Brewfest Celebrates Regional Beers at Big Sky Resort

7/03/08

BIG SKY, Mont. — Taste the flavors from across the region with the Big Sky Resort Brewfest on July 11 and 12.  Friday will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a free live music performance in the Mountain Village.  On Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m.“Brews, Brats and Brisket” will take place on Saturday in the plaza area of the Big Sky Resort Mountain Village.

Friday, an evening of music will begin with Jawbone Railroad and The Wilders playing a free show outside.  Jawbone railroad is a Bozeman based 4-piece band playing old time country.  The Wilders are a 4-piece band out of Kansas City that play everything from original country to hillbilly tunes to rocking fiddle tunes.  Root beer floats, marshmallow roasting, food and spirits will be available on the plaza Friday night so sit back to the toe tapping sounds, grab some food and relax.

On Saturday, the fest really gets going.  At 1:30 p.m. doors open for “Brews, Brats and Brisket.”  Tickets are $25 at the gate for music, brews and other festivities.  The admission price includes 10 four-ounce pours from one of the 12 breweries participating.  Additional pours can be purchased, as well as full pints to quench any thirst.

“We’re excited to bring this energy to the Mountain Village and showcase the local and regional breweries,” said Steve Merlino, Big Sky Resort’s Summit Food and Beverage Manager. “It’s summer and there’s no better way to celebrate than with great beer, great music and great food.”

For those wanting not to imbibe in the local brews, a $20 entry fee will open the tent flaps for an afternoon of awesome music and other activities. Locally raised Wagyu Beef brisket and burgers will be served.  Non-alcoholic beverages, including keg rootbeer and locally created bratwursts will also be available for the day.

The music will begin at 2 p.m. with Jawbone Railroad, a Bozeman 4-piece old time country band.  At 3:30 p.m. the Lone Peak Bluegrass Band featuring Kevin Fabozzi will take the stage, followed by The Blasters, a rock-a-billy hard driven country band at 5:30 p.m.  Finally at 7:30 p.m., the headliners take center stage.  John McKuen, the founder of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band with special guest Nathan McKuen and Matt Cartsonis will bring down the house and play their foot stomping, hand clapping rhythms.

“Furthermore, we are making this sustainable.  Food and drinks will be served in 100% biodegradable corn cups and plates and the beef will be from local, organic farms,” said Merlino. “Big Sky Resort is serious about putting on a large scale event and making it environmentally friendly.”
