Big Sky, Mont. (March 28, 2014) - Closing out Big Sky Resort's 40th anniversary year is the 11th annual Pond Skim, marking the finale of another ski season. Pond Skim 2014, presented by Pabst Blue Ribbon, is Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 3:00 pm near the base of Ramcharger chairlift on the Ambush ski run.
Big Sky Resort's Pond Skim is a spectacle of carnage as participants attempt to ski or snowboard over a glacier blue pond built by Big Sky Resort's terrain park team and draws over 5,000 spectators. Various pond designs have included a double pond with 6 foot drop in the middle, a double pond with a table top in the middle, a curved pond, and a pond requiring a tight turn or big air to navigate. This year's pond design will be revealed on the morning of April 19 and bound to be a crowd pleaser with surprise hurdles, jumps and floating obstacles.
Pond Skim participation is encouraged with a registration cost of $25 per person and is limited to 100 individual participants. Each participant receives an official Pond Skim trucker hat. Everyone is encouraged to dress in costumes and cheer on each participant as they attempt to cross the chilly waters on skis or a snowboard with amazing skill or absolute soaked failure and some might try to douse the crowd.
Participants register 11:00am - 12:00pm at the Summit Clock Tower. The Pond Skim after party will be at Whiskey Jack's with live music by Milton Menasco, followed by Bottom of the Barrel.
Big Sky Resort's last day of the season is Sunday, April 20, 2014. Easter Sunrise Service will be offered by the Big Sky Chaplain's Association's, Brad Lartigue, on Sunday at 7:00am at the top of the Swift Current chairlift. Complimentary chairlift loading starts at 6:30am. Foot traffic is also welcome. Skiers and Snowboarders will take the Mr. K ski run back to the Mountain Village base after the service.

Big Sky, Mont. (December 30, 2013) - Big Sky Resort's National Sales Manager, Katie Grice, is a Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) after passing the CMP program and testing, making her one of only four CMPs in Montana. The CMP certification is the highest standard of professionalism for Meeting Planner Professionals worldwide awarded by the Convention Industry Council (CIC).
In order to receive this distinction, Grice had to demonstrate her experience and education in Meeting Planning and pass a rigorous three hour exam testing her knowledge of the meeting industry, standard practices, and ethical guidelines.
Grice's CMP certification provides Big Sky Resort's Yellowstone Conference Center a higher distinction among Meeting Planners knowing the Resort operates at the same high standard of professionalism. Grice is the only Montana CMP representing a venue. "I wanted to pave the way for our Resort to go beyond what others do," said Grice "and with this certification I can serve our clients even better."
Big Sky Resort hosts hundreds of major conferences each year ranging from certified continuing education courses for medical and legal (CME & CLE) to large corporate and association events. The Resort's Yellowstone Conference Center caters a variety of meeting sizes and types from 25 to 750 attendees. The versatile meeting facilities include the Lone Peak Pavilion outdoor reception venue and the new Moonlight Lodge facility for spectacular receptions. Lodging throughout the Resort ranges from basic to luxury accommodations for up to 2,000 guests.
The facilities and services offered at Big Sky ensure productive meetings, scheduling efficiency, festive banquets and, most importantly, satisfied attendees. Big Sky's meeting and convention clientele have been coming back to Big Sky Resort for up to 35 years, speaking volumes to the high level of consistent excellent service. This is one of the reasons Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) chose Big Sky Resort as the host venue for APEC 2011.
