Better Together Breaks Records for Big Sky Resort

April 24, 2014

Big Sky, Mont. (April 24, 2014) - Big Sky Resort closes the winter season with another year of record breaking skier visitation at 473,000, up seven and a half percent over the previous year with the combined Moonlight Basin. Big Sky Resort Lodging also had a remarkable season, up 25 percent over last season with the merger of Moonlight Basin properties.

"The entire Big Sky community experienced record breaking visitation and commerce this winter," said Taylor Middleton, General Manager of Big Sky Resort. "As a matter of fact, this was our third consecutive high mark. The brand and marketing horsepower of The Biggest Skiing in America has put Big Sky on every skiers bucket list."

The Big Sky Resort community exceeded expectations when holiday skier visits were up 15 percent over the previous year's remarkable holiday season. The busiest ski day in the resort's history was on December 29, 2013 with over 7,500 skiers on the mountain and five days crossing the 7,000 skier visit mark.

Big Sky Resort is known for consistent snowfall and this winter Mother Nature kept it consistent in abundance ranking this winter in the top six snowfall season in the Resort's history. "It was an epic snow year; one of the best ever," commented Middleton. "This was an very long season and season pass holders really got their money's worth, especially considering the Biggest Skiing in America pass product was priced lower than ever before."

"My hat's off to the brilliant staff of over 1,400 employees that came together to integrate Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin operations. It was very smooth, and they made something that was very complicated look easy," stated Middleton. In October 2013 Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin integrated into one resort linking 5,750 acres of skiable terrain under a single lift ticket and truly became the "Biggest Skiing in America" with 4,350 vertical feet, 29 chair and surface lifts, over 290 marked ski runs and a tram to the 11,166 foot Lone Peak.

Early season pass pricing for the 2014-2015 ends April 30, 2014 with savings of 30 percent on Gold, Silver, Bronze and Moonlight only season passes.

Grice Obtains CMP Status for Big Sky Resort

December 30, 2013

Big Sky, Mont. (December 30, 2013) - Big Sky Resort's National Sales Manager, Katie Grice, is a Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) after passing the CMP program and testing, making her one of only four CMPs in Montana. The CMP certification is the highest standard of professionalism for Meeting Planner Professionals worldwide awarded by the Convention Industry Council (CIC).

In order to receive this distinction, Grice had to demonstrate her experience and education in Meeting Planning and pass a rigorous three hour exam testing her knowledge of the meeting industry, standard practices, and ethical guidelines.

Grice's CMP certification provides Big Sky Resort's Yellowstone Conference Center a higher distinction among Meeting Planners knowing the Resort operates at the same high standard of professionalism. Grice is the only Montana CMP representing a venue. "I wanted to pave the way for our Resort to go beyond what others do," said Grice "and with this certification I can serve our clients even better."

Big Sky Resort hosts hundreds of major conferences each year ranging from certified continuing education courses for medical and legal (CME & CLE) to large corporate and association events. The Resort's Yellowstone Conference Center caters a variety of meeting sizes and types from 25 to 750 attendees. The versatile meeting facilities include the Lone Peak Pavilion outdoor reception venue and the new Moonlight Lodge facility for spectacular receptions. Lodging throughout the Resort ranges from basic to luxury accommodations for up to 2,000 guests.

The facilities and services offered at Big Sky ensure productive meetings, scheduling efficiency, festive banquets and, most importantly, satisfied attendees. Big Sky's meeting and convention clientele have been coming back to Big Sky Resort for up to 35 years, speaking volumes to the high level of consistent excellent service. This is one of the reasons Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) chose Big Sky Resort as the host venue for APEC 2011. The professional staff is experienced in planning and executing memorable, productive events, as high-end as hosting the President and Vice President of the United States.
