Record Food Bank Donation, Turkey for a Ticket

Big Sky, Mont. (December 13, 2013) - Today, the 7th annual Turkey for a Ticket, hosted by Big Sky Resort, broke the food bank record with the single day donation of 76,424 pounds of food for Gallatin Valley Food Bank, Madison Valley Food Bank and the Big Sky Food. Big Sky Resort handed out over 3,000 lift tickets and vouchers to donators in return for their donations of a frozen turkey or 20 cans of food.

"We are blown away with the generosity of Big Sky Resort and the community," said Jill Holder, Operations Manager for Gallatin Valley Food Bank. "We've lost count on the number of turkeys donated, there are just tons. This is a record donation for our food banks, just unbelievable."

Today donations surpassed last year's donation of 37,895 pounds, making this the most successful one-day food drive for the food banks and Big Sky Resort. Donations were collected at Big Sky Resort's Mountain Village, Madison Village and in Bozeman at Albertson's grocery store.

125 corporations and businesses took on the challenge in donations by donating at least 80 pounds of food or four frozen turkeys. The following companies donated the maximum of 800 pounds of food or 40 frozen turkeys: Rocking TJ Ranch, Software Automation Consulting Services, Triple R Mitigation, Sadeye Inc., Mountain Home Vacation Rentals, Greater Yellowstone Guides, Discovery Map, Takeda Vaccines, Bozeman Painting Company, Clarks, Fork Good Food, Printing For Less, McCotter Enterprises, Unearthing Destinys Conferences, and Slingshot Media.

Big Sky Resort is also offering $40 lift tickets Saturday and Sunday in celebration of the their 40th anniversary. Kent Johnson and Milton Menasco will be playing at Whiskey Jack's on Saturday and free cake and ice cream will be served on Sunday at Whiskey Jack's at 3:30pm.
