Big Sky Resort Golf Club Opens with Accolades

BIG SKY, Mont. - Big Sky Golf Course opens for the 2013 summer season May 24, 2013 after receiving two awards, the 2012 Golf Range Association of America (GRAA) Top 50 Range in the Public Category and the 2012 Horton Smith Award from the Rocky Mountain Section PGA.

Mark Wehrman, Head Golf Professional at Big Sky Resort Golf Course is awarded the PGA Horton Smith Award recognizing PGA Professionals who are model educators of PGA Golf Professionals. This award recognizes an individual Rocky Mountain Section PGA Professional for outstanding and continuing contributions to professional education by demonstrating outstanding qualities in leadership, strong moral character, maintaining a substantial record of service to the Association and the game of golf, and is well-regarded as a model educator of the PGA Golf Professionals. Wehrman will be receiving the award at the annual meeting in May 2013 at Idaho Falls.

Big Sky Resort Golf Club was featured in the January 2013 issue of Golf Range Magazine and online at after receiving the 2012 GRAA Top 50 Range in the Public Category. Peers in the Pacific Northwest section of PGA industry recommend the golf ranges they believe deserve to be ranked in the top 50 ranges.

The 18-hole Arnold Palmer designed public course opened in the early 1970's and has been updated several times to continue to provide exciting play. The course is 6,500 feet above sea level offering longer drives, spectacular views of Lone Peak, and winds along the banks of the West Fork of the scenic Gallatin River.
