Big Sky Resort Opens for 2013-2014 Season

Big Sky, Mont. (November 28, 2013) - Celebrating their 40th year of operation, Big Sky Resort opened for the 2013-2014 ski season to about 2,000 people riding on four chairlifts, beginner area surface lifts, 9 features in the Swifty 2.0 terrain park, and Lone Peak Tram running for scenic viewing only. The Swift Current and Explorer chairlifts opened at 9:00am loading skiers and snowboarders, as many of them made their way to the Challenger and Lone Peak Triple chairlifts.
"It's always fun when ski season opens, everyone has a buzz of excitement. With the merger of Moonlight and Big Sky, we're now one resort bringing the best together for our guests," said Sheila Chapman, Big Sky's Public Relations. "Our Mountain Operations team has done a fantastic job to safely open as much terrain as possible."
As more snowstorms arrive, Big Sky Resort will continue to open as much terrain as quickly and safely as possible. Early season Adult lift ticket pricing is $59 with Sky Card holders receiving $5 off. The Early season price is good through December 5, 2013, as more terrain opens prices will be adjusted. Friday, December 6, 2013 is Big Sky Resort's "twenty dollar day" with all open terrain for a $20 lift ticket.
Early season amenities are open. Big Sky Mountain Sports is offering lessons and the Big Sky Rental and Repair shop is in full swing. The Mountain Mall retail shops will be open, along with Solace Spa & Salon in the Huntley Lodge and Moonlight Lodge. Restaurants open in the Mountain Village include Whiskey Jack's, Lone Peak Café, Mountain Mocha, MR Hummers, Hungry Moose Market & Deli and at the Moonlight Lodge the Jack Creek Bar.
Beyond the slopes, activities open at Big Sky Resort are the Nature Zipline Tours and Snowshoe Tours. The new Adventure Zipline Tour will open, Friday, November 29, 2013.
The first chairlift ran December 15, 1973. Since, Big Sky Resort has grown into the largest ski resort in the United States. The weekend of December 13-15, 2013, Big Sky Resort will be celebrating its 40th Birthday with $40 lift tickets, Live Music with Milton Menasco on Saturday, cake & ice cream on Sunday, Military Appreciation Weekend with free lift tickets for active and retired military personal Saturday and Sunday, and Friday December 13, 2013 Turkey for a Ticket, get a lift ticket for the day with a donation of a turkey or 20 cans of food.
