Animal Shelter Snowshoe Shuffle at Big Sky Resort

Big Sky, Mont. (February 26, 2014) - The tenth annual Snowshoe Shuffle has been rescheduled from this Saturday to Saturday, April 12, 2014 due to the forecasted temperatures for the safety of the guests and animals.

Big Sky Resort and Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter are hosting the tenth annual Snowshoe Shuffle, Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 5:30pm at the Madison Base Area of Big Sky Resort. The fundraiser for the Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter features a torch-lit snowshoe course, dinner, and live music with proceeds benefiting the homeless animals at the shelter.

"We're pleased to mark the tenth year of this outdoor family event," said Phil Rogers, Executive Director of Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter. "Some families have made the Snowshoe Shuffle an annual tradition or part of their vacation planning. And every year, we build more support for our community animal shelter."

Registration for the event is $25 for adults, children 10 years old and younger are free, and includes dinner. Participants will receive a goody bag from Dee-O-Gee, and can rent snowshoes from Northern Lights Trading Company at no cost. Pretty Paws Pet Grooming is also a sponsor. Dogs are welcomed.

"We fan out onto the course for a trek together," said Rogers. "It's about two miles long, and just challenging enough to be fun for everyone. Then we share a casual evening at the Headwaters Grille, hear live music by the Gettin' Up Early Boys, enjoy dinner and a raffle."

New this year will be local mushers teaching the basics of skijoring with your dog. A skijor course will be set up with weighted sleds and harnesses to test the dog's ability to pull a sleigh.

Tickets are available at the Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter, both Dee-O-Gee locations and at the door.
