Adventure Zipline Unique for Big Sky Resort
January 28, 2014
Big Sky, Mont. (January 28, 2013) - Big Sky Resort is the "Biggest Skiing in America" offering bigger adventure beyond the slopes with their new winter Adventure Zipline Tour. The Adventure Zipline is a chair lift accessed tour made up of three newly constructed zipline sections and the existing Twin Zipline, which spans up to 1,500 feet long and 150 feet above the forest floor. The entire Adventure Zipline Tour offers 5,000 feet of ziplining and expansive views of Lone Mountain and the Spanish Peaks of the Madison Mountain Range.
Adventurers begin their tour from the Mountain Village loading the Explorer chair lift and will either use Yaktrax or snowshoes, depending on weather conditions, to stroll downhill to the first zipline tower. "The excitement of the Adventure Tour is that it‟s longer, higher and faster than our [Nature] zip line tour" says Mike Unruh, Big Sky Resort‟s Mountain Operation Manager, "even our take off platforms are 20 feet above ground."
Big Sky Resort‟s established Nature Zipline Tour consists of three shorter ziplines spanning 350 - 475 feet in length and 30-60 feet off the ground. The Nature Zipline Tour is an affordable introduction to zipping with a 20 minute minimal hike using Yaktrax or snowshows, depending on weather conditions, to the first zipline station. Informative guides share their passion for the area and point out interesting facts about the surrounding mountain ranges.
Both Zipline tours accommodate groups of up to 12 guests and begin in the Mountain Village from our Basecamp. The Adventure Zipline Tour requires a minimum weight of 80 pounds and a maximum of 250 pounds. The Nature Zipline Tour requires a minimum weight of 45 pounds and a maximum of 300 pounds. Guests need to be able to fit comfortably in the harness within the weight requirements and are required to wear closed toe shoes.
