January 23, 2014

Big Sky, Mont. (January 23, 2014) - Big Sky Resort's 2013/14 Athlete Ambassador, Heather McPhie is named to the United States Olympic Freestyle Ski Team and will be competing in the women's freestyle moguls competition at the Sochi Olympic Games February 2014 representing her country and native Montana.

"I am so honored and thrilled to partner with Big Sky Resort! I grew up skiing at Big Sky with my family, and the ski run Mad Wolf is where my passion for mogul skiing began," exclaimed Heather McPhie, U.S. Olympic Freestyle Ski Team member.

Big Sky Resort held a fundraiser in December to help McPhie reach her Olympic dream. Heather donated a portion of the proceeds raised to her two favorite local charities, Big Sky Youth Empowerment and Eagle Mount. Always one to remember where she came from, this is Heather's way of supporting the community that has supported her dream throughout the years.

In 2013, McPhie had five World Cup podiums with three first place finishes, defended her National title, and finished the season ranked 3rd overall on the World Cup tour. She is the first woman to complete a backfull and d-spin in the same run at the World Championships in Voss, Norway. Heather is a native Montanan born and raised in Bozeman.
