Uphill Traffic Policy

No Uphill travel is allowed.

This applies at all times to all uphill traffic including but not limited to: skinning (skis or snowboard), snowshoeing, winter hiking, & sledding.

Uphill travel is prohibited within the ski area boundary unless guided or specifically authorized. The ski area is closed to uphill traffic due to hazardous conditions that typically exist. These conditions include but are not limited to; construction, avalanche danger or control work, snowmaking, grooming or maintenance operations.

This type of recreational use raises safety concerns within our resort boundary during operating hours as well the non-operating hours. Maintenance operations occur on the mountain during all hours. Machinery can be found working anywhere on the mountain at any time. This policy mitigates safety concerns related to uphill recreational use. Big Sky Resort accepts no liability or responsibility for accidents that occur as a result of uphill travel.
