Get acquainted with Mother Nature during your Big Sky stay. Peace of mind will return the moment you pull on your hiking boots and explore the miles and miles of trails in Gallatin National Forest or close neighbor Yellowstone National Park. Right at the resort, you can select the easier route by taking our scenic lift ride up the mountain and then enjoy a leisurely hike down to the base on our self-guided nature trails, or explore the area and find one of The World's 10 Greatest Hikes, such as Beehive Basin. Wildflowers, roaring streams, distant snowclad peaks, and clean, crisp mountain air all surround you while hiking at Big Sky Resort.

Concerned of hiking by yourself? Basecamp can organize a hiking guide to help show you around our gorgeous Mountains, taking in the scenery as well as pointing out the Rocky Mountains Flora and Fauna. Our Basecamp Guides carry Bear Spray and are educated in Wildlife Awareness to provide peace of mind while you explore the great outdoors!
Be sure to stop in Big Sky Sports in the Mountain Mall or Basecamp for maps and advice. The Concierge will also be able to provide Summer Trail Maps and information about the surrounding area.

Leave No Trace
Be sensitive to your surroundings. Wet trails are vulnerable to erosion and damage. Stay on existing trails, respect signage, and please pack out your trash.
Know your equipment, your ability, and the area in which you are traveling. Be prepared and carry the necessary gear for changes in weather and other conditions.
Be Bear Aware
Are you prepared to avoid one? Be alert, make noise, carry bear spray, avoid hiking alone, and do not run. For more information and tips, read about Bear Safetey on the Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks website.
Enjoy the Mountain Scenery while searching for Buried Treasure! Geocaching is a real world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS enabled devices.
