Court Of Masters Introductory Sommelier Class I

Court Of Masters Introductory Sommelier Class I Talus Room, Summit Hotel

The Introductory Course & Examination is given over a two-day period from 8am until approximately 6pm.This program is a fast-paced, intensive review of the world's wine producing regions. Students will learn the Court of Master Sommeliers Deductive Tasting Method and be shown elements of classic wine service.At the end of the second (and final) day of the course, a multiple-choice exam of seventy questions is given. A student must achieve a minimum score of 60% to pass.The Introductory Course & Examination is a prerequisite for the Certified Sommelier Examination.Candidates have three years after passing the Introductory Examination to sit the Certified Sommelier Examination.

The Court of Master Sommelier, Americas Introductory Course & Examination is the first of four required steps to become a Master Sommelier. The intent of the Introductory Course is to provide wine and hospitality professionals with a thorough review of the world of wines and spirits at the highest professional standards. Candidates receive an intensive review by a team of Master Sommeliers on wine and spirits knowledge, proper wine service, and deductive tasting.

There is actually nothing new about orange wines since they have been around as long as people have been making wine, but recently they are making a big comeback. In this seminar, we will discuss the origins of the style as well as why these wines are appropriate for today's table. We will also taste a few different producer's takes on this growing category to gain a deeper understanding of what is possible.

Join Google Global Program Chef/Operations Manager, Scott Giambastiani and his team of Google account chefs for an exciting culinary demonstration and tasting followed by a truly Google inspired luncheon brought to you by Google and the Summit Hotel culinary teams. Guest's will be able to personalize their entire food experience from the "table center" garnish station of fresh herbs, sauces, and spice blends. This three course, plant forward luncheon will take you around the world in 120 minutes.

Big Sky Resort's Sommelier Don Jost and Rosenthal Wine Merchant's Joannie Karapetian lead this exploration into the most fascinating and oft-debated segment of the wine world. Winemaking techniques, styles and potential problems will be discussed as we taste our way through these exciting wines! By the end of the seminar, we hope to debunk some myths and discover some new loves amongst these misunderstood wines.

  • "Valley to Cloud" - Experience American Alp - Guild of Sommeliers Dinner With Fred Dame, Jay Fletcher and Scott Giambastiani

A celebration at 8800 ft where Master Sommeliers Fred Dame and Jay Fletcher expertly pair exquisite wine selections direct from the Guild Of Sommeliers cellars, with the cuisine of Chef Scott Giambastiani and his Google culinary team. Scott is a Bay Area native, who worked in restaurants including: The Dining Room at the Ritz Carlton San Francisco, The Lark Creek Inn, & Viognier under top Chefs including Bradley Ogden, Gary Danko & Sylvain Portay before coming to Google in 2006 to replace Google's first Chef (Charlie). Scott aided in growing the Bay Area Google team from just a handful of cafes in the early 2000's. Scott and his team will put their spin on globally inspired Google cuisine crafted from local Montana products. Beginning with passed hor d'oeuvres, this sit down four-course dinner will put you on cloud nine. Elegance in a casual setting at the top of the Ram Charger Lift. The greatest duel at the ‘Jack'. The burger masters at Montana Jack provide the beef, local breweries provide the brews and multiple Vine & Dine featured wineries are there to have you be the judge. What works best with Americas most sought after delicacy- a burger. A super fun, lighthearted night of debauchery. Rumors are out there that Yeti Dogs may try to crash the party. What? hot dogs and hamburgers, Hmmm. Brown Ale, Ipa, Zinfandel, how about a Syrah, so much to think about.

This once in a lifetime adventure combines the Lone Peak Expedition and Pinot tastings along the way including a high altitude toast at the summit of Lone Mountain at 11,166 Ft. Enjoy an alpine picnic at the top of the Swift Current Chair Lift and meet winery representatives from pinot producers.   • Vine and Dine Dinner : A Very Special Evening with Chef John Besh

John Besh is a chef and a native son dedicated to the culinary riches of southern Louisiana. In his restaurants, entrepreneurial pursuits, and public activities, he preserves and promotes ingredients, techniques, and heritage one dish at a time. From the outset of his career, Besh's talent and drive have earned him continuous kudos. In 2014, the James Beard Foundation inducted him into "Who's Who in Food & Beverage." Food & Wine named him one of the "Top 10 Best New Chefs in America," and he won the coveted James Beard Award for Best Chef of the Southeast in 2006. In 2009, he was awarded Food Arts' Silver Spoon Award for revitalizing the culinary legacy of New Orleans. His flagship restaurant, August, is a Gayot Top 40 Restaurant and a Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Restaurant, in addition to being a 2012 and 2013 James Beard Nominee for Outstanding National Restaurant (eligible only to restaurants open for ten years or more) and 2015 James Beard Nominee for Outstanding Service.
