Shedhorn SkiMo Racers

The Shedhorn Ski Mountaineering Race returns to Big Sky this March! In this world-class endurance race, you'll work against gravity and come away knowing you completed the toughest SkiMo race course in the country. Secure your registration now, or cheer on your friends and family on March 4th at Big Sky Resort!

Taking you up long climbs and down big mountain descents like the Big Couloir, this race is not for the lighthearted. There are two race categories, suited for all ages, speeds, and distances:

  • Individual Races — The Shedhorn: 16-18 miles and 7,500' - 8,000' elevation gain; and The Pronghorn: 7.5 miles and 4,000' - 4,600' elevation gain
  • The Shedling: This race is designed for racers 13 years old and younger - 3.1 miles and 720' in elevation gain

Friday, March 3

  • Pre-race meetings — see registration link for more details.


Saturday, March 4

  • 8 a.m. — Shedhorn + Pronghorn races begin at the base of Swift Current. 
  • 8:10 a.m. — Shedling Kids' race begins at the base of Swift Current.
  • 5 p.m. — Awards in the Mountain Village base area.
  • Spectators can watch from the Cue Ball 9:30-12 or from the Shedhorn Grill 12-3:30.
