Build your child's foundational ski and snowboard skills with a lesson.
Our PSIA-certified instructors match children's learning styles in a fun and safe environment. Lessons are available to kids of all ages, from first-timers to all-mountain rippers and terrain park aspirers. Lesson lengths are optimized for attention spans at different ages. We focus on creating a positive experience and building techniques that support strong lifelong skiers and snowboarders.
Both group and private lessons are great for children. For first-timers, we recommend a private lesson to get them off on the right foot.

Kids Private Lessons
Half-Day Lessons Starting at $799
Watch your child thrive with individualized instruction from our specialized children’s instructors. Private lessons allow focus on building strong foundations in your child’s learning style. Private lessons also are great for kids looking to hone a specific skill.

- For beginners aged 2-3, we have a special Small Fry Try introductory private lesson.

Kids Group Lessons
Half-Day Lessons Starting at $255
Let kids bond with others while building their skills on the mountain. Our group lessons for kids focus on creating a fun, welcoming learning space for all ages and ability levels. With a small child-to-instructor ratio, group lessons are a great way to build the skills that make youngsters successful skiers and snowboarders for the rest of their lives.
Age Groups
- Ages 3-17.
- Lesson length, group size, and focus vary by age group.
- For younger kids, we recommend beginning with a half-day lesson.
Ability Levels
- Skiers and snowboarders beginner to advanced.
- Participants are grouped by ability, discipline, and lesson objective.
Lesson Details
- Full-day lessons include lunch.
- Kids must be able to slide and load the magic carpet on their own. If not, we recommend a private lesson.
Teen Mountain Experience
Full-day lessons starting at $300
Teenagers learn best (and have the most fun) when they feel free to explore with friends under the guidance of a certified instructor. The Teen Mountain Experience is a blend between a group lesson and a guided experience.

- Ages 13-17.
Ability Levels
- Skiers and snowboarders beginner to advanced. Participants are grouped by discipline and ability level.
- For first-timers, we recommend a private or group lesson.

Small Fry Private Lesson
45-Minute Lessons Starting at $170
Get your little one off to the right start with our child education-certified instructors. With one-on-one attention and a shortened session, you can develop a lifelong love of skiing and snowboarding, ideal for children's energy and attention span.
Age Groups
- Ages 2-4.
- We recommend starting snowboarders at 3 years old. Snowboarding requires balance skills that take more time to develop.
Ability Levels
- Developed specifically for children in their first year of learning.
Lesson Details
- 45-minute lesson.
Mountain Sports Information
- Big Sky Resort offers lessons based in three different meeting spots: Mountain Village, Madison Base, and the Montage Hotel (for guests of the hotel & Spanish Peaks). Please ensure you are booking your lesson in the location best for you.
- Please note that we do not allow day-of registration for Group Lessons
- Lift tickets are required during sessions
