Shedhorn 4

The new, updated high speed quad lift at Shedhorn reduces ride times from 12 minutes to less than five. Lift lines have been reduced with added capacity, and guests benefit from more laps in less time on this incredible part of the mountain.

Merry Christmas from Big Sky Resort!

Our Christmas present to you: the Grand Opening of Shedhorn 4, Big Sky Resort's new high-speed quad on the south face of the mountain. The new Shedhorn 4 doubles uphill capacity and shortens the ride time from ten minutes to just under five minutes.

December 20, 2018

Shedhorn construction work is nearing its completion. Big Sky Resort Lift Operations and Maintenance teams, together with Doppelmayr, have been working long days to get this lift open to the public as quickly and safely as possible before the Christmas holiday. November 30, 2018

Crews are actively working to pull and splice the haul rope. Preparation for the splice will begin today, and is expected to occur over the course of the weekend. While active construction work continues on Shedhorn, Liberty Bowl to the Middle Road will close to skiers and riders for the safety of our guests and construction crews. Marx and Lenin remain unobstructed by the Shedhorn construction work.  

October 19, 2018

Shedhorn Drive cabinets are installed.

Drive cabinets are responsible for all functions of the lift, including stop and safety controls. The communication lines have been installed on Shedhorn and contain more than 87 total miles of wiring on the lift.

Towers and other equipment have been flown into place on the Shedhorn lift.

September 6, 2018

The top terminal of Shedhorn 4 is nearly finished with the installation of the new exterior housing. Additionally, improvements to Cow Flats are coming along nicely.

August 31, 2018

The Shedhorn bottom terminal foundation is coming along well. The top terminal has been installed and is awaiting new exterior housing.
