The Snow Report

The Snow Report

Good Morning Skiers & Snowboarders, this is Joe Turner with your Big Sky Snow Report for Friday, April 19, 2024.

Spring is returning after a brief bout with Ms. Winter and it is looking like he wants to stick around for a while. While it has been stormy and cold we can expect for a warm up again this week as starting tomorrow we will see above freezing temps again. No new snow overnight but in the meantime, how about that 15" of cold smoke that we just got making for super fun and adventurous powder days. We love surprise dumps like that and it changes the whole world from the top of the peak down and it was fabulous. Unfortunately as Spring and Summer bully their way into the party we are limited in our powder play days and we are hoping that we will get another dumping or two before all is said and done for the season.

Todays weather is perfect for Play and Après with bluebird skies and mild temps in the mid-twenties. Bring your happy pants and sunblock because it is going to be perfect on the slopes today. We are expecting to see temps rise to around 25°F with a low of 13°F for tonight. Winds will be calm and from the East/Southeast to North/Northwest directions throughout the day at speeds of 6 - 10 mph, although mild it is enough to create wind-chill values down to -5°F so be vigilant about bare skin. Our mid-mountain base depth is now sitting at 45" while the peak has grown 58" of white goodness.

We have just over a week left of the lifts spinning here in Big Sky so make sure you squeeze out every last drop of fun from the Winter, while it may have not been super deep it was super fun. Come on up for the last week and continue to shred until the final bell rings and the lifts stop spinning and while your at it come enjoy some great Apres with good friends, good tunes and tasty libations. As always be safe, have fun and we hope to ski you out on the mountain.

**Please, remember that unmarked obstacles and hazards exist and are prevalent so ski and ride safe. Always ski/ride with a partner and keep your partner in sight at all times. Please honor our SLOW skiing and riding zones to protect yourself and other guests.
