Good Morning Skiers & Snowboarders, this is Mario with your Big Sky Snow Report for Thursday, April 25, 2024.
Just a little bit of rain and sleet overnight here on Lone Mountain, and as of 6:45am it is currently snowing quite heavily in the Bowl. We can expect more translucent precipitation today and there's even a chance for some thunder this afternoon. Grab those raincoats and make sure to leave behind those lightning rods so that we can keep the lifts spinning all day long. The base on our North facing Andesite groomers is holding the strongest, and hopefully temps drop and we see snow through the weekend like the forecast is predicting. A ski day is a ski day nonetheless and thankfully we've got bubbles on our chairs! If we can endure -30°F and Montana Storm skiing, we can handle a little rain.
Today's temperatures are expected to range between 25°F this morning, and 48°F in the afternoon, with mid mountain temps in the 30's most of the day, and Southwest winds will blow at 5-15mph. All of this under cloudy skies with a chance for rain and snow this afternoon.
Tonight things shift and the higher elevations are predicted to be well below freezing through the weekend. Let's pray for some surprise dumps and a great reset to our groomers down low. It's been an extreme season, and it only makes me even more excited for next year when I think about all the fun we've had with a low tide. If skiing in the rain is anything like dancing in the rain, you should come out today and do your snow dances. As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
