The Snow Report
The Snow Report
Good Morning Skiers & Snowboarders, this is Mario with your Big Sky Snow Report for Tuesday March 19, 2024.
A week of slushy sun and fun here on Lone Mountain, and more warm temps expected today and tomorrow. Temps have barely dipped below freezing at midmountain overnight, and are expected to get just as warm as yesterday; however with a little less sun. Our base is holding up strong, but the mountain is changing rapidly, with mashed potatoes being enjoyed at 11,000ft yesterday. Today and tomorrow are the last days of this hot flash, and then we are hoping for an entire weekend of snow. Let's pray for a powdery resurgence of winter, and that some partly cloudy skies the next couple of days help preserve our snow.
Today's temperatures are expected to range between 26°F and 46°F with mid mountain temps in the 30's, and winds are expected out of the Northwest at 5-15mph, all of this under partly cloudy skies.
Spring skiing is up there as one of my favorite kind of skiing. It's warm, comfortable, sunny and unique. The fact that we typically start enjoying spells of spring skiing more than a month before closing here in Big Sky is fascinating. This is a fool's spring and there yet awaits weeks of wintery wonder here on Lone Mountain. Get out here and enjoy the meltdown while it lasts, and pray for that heavenly refresher. As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
**Please, remember that unmarked obstacles and hazards exist and are prevalent so ski and ride safe. Always ski/ride with a partner and keep your partner in sight at all times. Please honor our SLOW skiing and riding zones to protect yourself and other guests.
