The Snow Report

The Snow Report

Good Morning Skiers & Snowboarders, this is Mario with your Big Sky Snow Report for Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

Another sunny spring skiing day lies ahead of us here on Lone Mountain. Yesterday, temps steadily climbed up to the mid 30's at mid mountain, and we've had another pretty hard freeze overnight. Air temps at the summit have been cold, but the sun is baking up that mashed potato face more and more each day. We've still got over four feet of base to work with up there, but not much time left to ski it. Today we can expect another firm morning, with a few more clouds in the sky than yesterday so keep that in mind as we wait for the sun to soften things up. It looks like snow could show up as early as tomorrow night and we could have colder temps and powder skiing through closing weekend, so get out and soak up the slush and sun before it's too late.

Today's temperatures are expected to range between 19°F at the summit this morning, and 46°F at the base this afternoon, with mid mountain temps in the 30's by noon. Winds are expected to remain calm, out of the South at 5-15mph. All of this under mostly sunny skies.

Temps are expected to peak tomorrow, before dropping as the next system rolls in, which seems to have been a trend this year with these spring storms. April is such an exciting time for skiing, as we are either skiing on a tanning bed or choking on powder. The extremes of this mountain lend to the extreme sports of skiing and snowboarding very well. Whether you're getting every last park lap, cruising groomers, or as much vert off of the Tram, you've gotta love having the lifts spinning this late into spring. As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.

**Please, remember that unmarked obstacles and hazards exist and are prevalent so ski and ride safe. Always ski/ride with a partner and keep your partner in sight at all times. Please honor our SLOW skiing and riding zones to protect yourself and other guests.
