The Lone Peak Expedition will close for the season on September 15. Be sure to book your expedition before then!
Adventure to Montana's Highest Scenic Overlook, no hike required.
This half-day adventure will be a highlight of your trip to Big Sky, Montana.
Guests of all ages and fitness levels can take part in this memorable activity. First, you'll ride the Swift Current scenic chair lift up 1,648 vertical feet to the halfway point of Lone Mountain. From there, you will meet your guide and board an expedition vehicle, and head further up the mountain, and learn insights on the flora, fauna, wildlife and history of the area around you.
The expedition vehicle will transport you to the bottom terminal of the famed Lone Peak Tram, a suspended mode of transportation that moves at 13 mph and covers 1,450 vertical feet in just 4 minutes. The views from the Tram are spectacular, and only surpassed by those at the very top. Once you offload the tram, you will be standing at the summit of Lone Peak, at 11,166 feet, and experience views from Montana's highest scenic overlook. On a clear day, you can see across three states, two national parks, and many mountain ranges. If you're lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the Billie and Nanny Goats that call Lone Peak home. You bring the camera, we'll provide the binoculars.
Photos of your great adventure are available for purchase from Crystal Images. View them in The Exchange and online at bigskyphotos.com.
