Everything you need to know about riding the tram
Getting to the Tram
The Lone Peak Tram is located on-mountain, accessed via the Jay Walk run off of Swift Current 6. A lift ticket, Big Sky Season Pass, or Ikon or Mountain Collective Pass is required to access the tram's lower terminal. Guests must be able to ski a green run (Jay Walk to Mr. K or Lower Morningstar).
Skier/ Snowboarder and Scenic Tram Rides
The Lone Peak Tram can be ridden to ski down from the top of Lone Mountain or as a scenic ride. The lower terminal features separate entrance gates for each access type.
The skier/snowboarder gate is for guests who plan to ski or snowboard down from the top. The scenic rider gate is for guests who are not bringing their equipment to the top and will ride the tram back down.
Paying for Tram Rides
Lift tickets and Big Sky Resort Gold & Double Black season passes include access to the Lone Peak Tram. Other Big Sky Resort Passes, plus Ikon and Mountain Collective Passholders, must enable Autocharge to pay for Lone Peak Tram rides.
Autocharge connects a credit card to your Sky Card. As you pass through the skier or scenic gate, the per-ride rate is charged to the card on file. Learn more about how to enable Autocharge .
Tram rates range between $10 and $40+ per ride. Prices are set for skiers/snowboarders and scenic riders daily and posted online and throughout the resort.
Sightseeing
See your surroundings from a new perspective. A ride on the Lone Peak Tram takes you to 360-degree views of three states (Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming), two National Parks (Yellowstone and Grand Teton), and millions of acres of wilderness.
Walk out to the Titanic Deck (Jack/Rose poses optional) and take in Montana's highest scenic overlook. If you're lucky, you may even spot a local mountain goat grazing for a snack. When you’ve taken it all in, ride the tram back down.
Skiing the Tram
The easiest run off of Lone Peak is Liberty Bowl, an advanced (single black diamond) run. Lone Peak can be subject to variable conditions and visibility throughout the season.
If you’re unfamiliar with the terrain, we recommend going with a Tram Guide. Whether you are looking to improve on the steeps or explore new terrain on Lone Mountain, our guides provide customized instruction and the confidence to take you there.
If the Big Couloir or North Summit Snowfield is on your bucket list, Tram Guides have beacons and know-how to get you down the mountain safely. Guests in Tram Guide sessions receive complimentary tram rides while with their instructor.
